Lamb M’Smem-Moroccan Taco

A delicious, fragrant, spicy alternative to the Mexican taco!


1 small onion chopped

1/2 red pepper diced

2 cloves garlic diced

3 Tbls tomato paste

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp cumin

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 1/2 lbs minced lamb

1/2 cup parsley


  1. Heat 1 tbls oil and fry onions, garlic, red pepper, and 1 tsp salt till onions are translucent – 4 min
  2. Add tomato paste and spices and cook a few minutes before adding the lamb and 1 tbls water
  3. add parsley to serve with yogurt sauce ( see recipe in the site)

In the recipe from the WSJ jan 21 2017, they also show you how to make the “naan” that goes with this dish. I bought naan and used instead and it was just delicious- A Moroccan Taco!
